We made the difficult decision to cancel Michelada Fest 2026.

Michelada Fest was built from the ground up by an independent Chicago team, and part of being independent means being honest with our community. The costs of producing a festival of this size have risen rapidly across every part of the event, and we do not have the same capital or backing as larger players to absorb those pressures.

The hardest part of this decision is knowing the impact it has beyond us. It affects the local vendors, small businesses, artists, volunteers, staff, and community partners who help bring this festival to life. These are our people who we care for deeply.

That’s why we are not done showing up. This September 18-20, Michelada Fest will return as a free street festival and a return to our roots. No tickets. No barriers. Solo nuestra comunidad.

To everyone who purchased a ticket: refunds are our top priority, and we will make sure every single one is processed in full and as quickly as possible. Refunds will begin within 15 to 30 days and, in most cases, will be returned directly to your original form of payment. No action is required on your part.

  • Yes. All ticket buyers will receive a 100% refund to the original form of payment — including those who purchased through a payment plan.

  • We know some attendees purchased their festival tickets using a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment provider, such as Klarna, Afterpay, Affirm, or another installment payment service. We understand you may have questions about how your payment plan will be affected now that the festival has been canceled.

    If you used a BNPL provider, your payment agreement remains between you and your payment provider while your ticket refund is being processed. Because refunds will be issued over the coming weeks, you may continue to see scheduled installment payments during that time.

    Here's what to expect:

    If you have already completed your installment payments, your refund will be issued once your ticket refund has been processed.If you are still making payments, your payment provider may continue collecting scheduled installments until the refund is received and applied to your account. Once the refund has been processed, your provider will update your balance or issue any applicable reimbursement according to its policies and the terms of your payment agreement.Refund processing times vary, so there may be a period during which your scheduled payments continue before the refund is reflected by your payment provider.If you have questions about your payment schedule, balance, or installment plan, please contact your payment provider directly, as only they can access your account and provide details specific to your payment agreement. If you have questions about the status of your festival refund, our customer support team is here to help.
